RADIUS - Fracture of the head

Description
The excised head of the radius shows an obvious fracture line which appears to extend through the full thickness of the excised specimen. There is some loss of cartilage on the sides with some osteophytic lipping in keeping with an osteoarthritis.
History
This 56 year old woman presented with pain on extension and rotation of the left forearm together with numbness and tingling of the left little and ring fingers. She had had a number of admissions for injury including a fractured jaw, minor head injuries and a dislocated shoulder, all probably related to excessive alcohol intake.
